Visitor Centres
The Forestry Commission have established three uniquely different Visitor Centres in three, very different, yet stunning locations in and around the Galloway Forest Park.
Open throughout the summer months, the centres offer an insight into the work of the Forestry Commission whilst giving the visitor a chance to become better acquainted with this fantastic natural resource and the myriad of plant and animal life supported by the Galloway Forest Park itself.
Two of the centres also serve as trailhead service providers for the 7stanes mountain bike trails at Kirroughtree and Glentrool, whilst Clatteringshaws is situated on the shores of Clatteringshaws Loch. Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre also lies on the famous Galloway Kite Trail and features a reconstruction of an Iron Age Roundhouse, remains of which was discovered during construction of the Hydro-electric dam at the western end of the loch.
