Fire Danger
Two years ago the Galloway Forest Park fell victim to a wild fire that lasted for three days. This needed over thirty men, a helicopter and a lot of hard work and perseverance to finally tame and put out. Not only was significant damage done but the fire also cost the taxpayer a significant amount of money. As a direct result of this event, everything possible must be done to prevent another fire from starting by following these simple guidelines:
- Do not light fires whilst in the perimeter of the Galloway Forest Park.
- Do not throw away glass or lit cigarettes.
- Dial 999 and ask for the Fire Brigade if you come across any unattended hill or forest fire.
