Clatteringshaws Loch
Details
Clatteringshaws Loch lies at the eastern fringes of the Galloway Forest Park. Created as part of the 1930's Galloway Hydro-electric scheme the loch now blends seamlessly within the landscape and offers some of the most picturesques views in the region.

Access to the lochside could not be easier as it lies directly on the Queensway linking the Ancient Royal Burgh of New Galloway and the thriving market town of Newton Stewart. On the southern shore lies a Forestry Commission Visitor Centre where the traveller can relax at the picnic area enjoying not only the views but the excellent home cooking provided by the cafe/tearoom in the centre.

At the north end of the loch runs the Southern Upland Way as it takes hikers from Bargrennan in the west to St. Johns Town of Dalry in the east.
